Students are required to write a minimum of 500 words (1000 total) doing at least two of the following:

organization, including a diversity of cultures;
2) using that knowledge to compare solutions to complex problems; and
3) exploring ethical modes of citizenship and collective action on local and global scales.

Connection of EC203 course to the Social and Global Awareness part of LAEs:
The macroeconomic view of the conflict between individual prosperity versus macroeconomic growth
takes a broader view compare to microeconomics. It involves understanding the measurement of
economic growth, and the uneven spread of this growth among the population. In addition, students will
learn to calculate the unemployment rate and inflation while understanding the racial and gender
differences of unemployment misery and the differential effect of price increases on poor and elderly on
fixed income. We will also study the disproportionate impact of globalization on the society and debate
the tension between national debt and growth.
