Micro Blog will be weekly blog posts on the Canvas discussion page written by… you! For this assignment, you will find an article from a reputable news source about microbiology and human health and write a 400-800-word blog-style post about it on Canvas. Each student will write 1 post during the semester, to be posted on a date selected by the student. We expect all students to read these posts (Canvas quiz questions will ask about them) and encourage comments and discussion on Canvas.
The requirements for the Micro Blog post are as follows:
Blog post should be about a recent (within last 2 years) article on microbiology and human health from a reputable news source.
Blogs will be posted by the student in the discussion section of Canvas in the Micro Blog thread.
Blogs should be 400-800 words.
Blogs must include:
A title (not included in word count).
Your full name at the beginning of the post (not included in word count).
A link to the article at the beginning of your post (not included in word count).
Links to any additional references at the end of your post (not included in word count).
In your post you should:
Write a brief summary of the article in terms that you and your peers will understand.
Research terms and concepts that are unfamiliar to you or other students using another resource and explain them clearly. Or, use an outside resource to verify information in the article. Cite your sources.
Explain why the information in the article is important and why people in this course should care about the article or how it relates to their lives.
Use your own words. Take time to think about, research and understand the article, so that you can effectively explain it to others. Do not use direct quotes and don’t plagiarize (of course).
