Once you have your grade on your first essay, you are required to write a 750-word “post-writing review memo” concerning each of the categories on the rubric. Your memo should focus on the positive elements as well as the errors/limitations in your essay and how you can improve on and/or correct them for the next essay.
Since there are three categories on the rubric for our first essay, you should have three categories for your review memo. For each of the categories, you should address the following:
Evaluate your thesis as a response to the prompt and evaluate the relationship between your thesis statement and your topic sentences for each paragraph. Examples should be included.
Evaluate your line of reasoning in your essay as well as your overall essay structure. Are there clear connections between the ideas? Does your essay move smoothly and clearly from paragraph to paragraph using a variety of transition techniques? Include examples from your essay where you have or have not done so.
Does your essay follow the MLA guidelines for visual formatting? Is your name and other information where it should be on the first page? Is your last name and page number in the upper, right-hand corner of each page? If there are any corrections that need to be made for the second essay, explain what you need to do to correct them.
